The writer says that every year Yefet ha-Sar is accustomed to persuading al-Shaykh al-Nafīs to pay the writer's capitation tax. The writer is in debt to the tune of 300 dirhams plus interest, at least partly due to the expense of marrying his son.

Most of the document is full of the vocabulary of patronage, but there are some parts that could potentially lead to some interesting historical gleanings. 1) It seems that T-S NS 162.34 mentions that the writer of the document is referring to a nominee who could be appointed as a state official in Yemen. 2) The writer in T-S NS 70.10 seems to recount his own patronage and service to the state and probably self-endorses himself as the amir of Yemen. 3) l.2 of BL OR 5557K.10 mentions the dispatching of ambassadors (sufur) and hujaj (lit. emissaries).
