Recto: deed of sale for part of a house in Fusṭāṭ. The parties are ʿAbdallāh b. Ṭāhir, the moneychanger, and Muḥammad b. Ṭāhir, the carpet dealer. Ca. 11th-12th century. Verso: Arabic note, apparently unrelated to the document on recto. (Information from CUDL)

  1. [بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله وحد]ه وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد نبيه واله وسلامه
  2. [                                                          ]عبد الله بن طاهر المتصرف بباب الحكم بمصر ومحمد بن طاهر الانماطي [                                                     ]
  3. [                                                          ] ما هو فى ملك عبد الله احدهما الحصة التي مبلغها الثلث والربع هما اربعة عشر سهما من [اربعة وعشرين سهما       ]
  4. [                                                          ] .. ما هو فى ملك الاخر منهما محمد بن طاهر الانماطي باقيها وهو الربع والسدس عشرة اسهم من اربعة وعشرين سهما[                           ]
  5. [                                                       البا]ب المربع والد[هـ]ـالـ[ـيـ]ـز والقاعات السفل والعلو اللاتي احداهن لها باب خارج عن باب هذه الدار مربع . [                           ]

  7. [                                                          ] .ـها والعطف على يمنتهوهو الخراب المستهدف من هذه الساحة ويتطرق الى العلو بالـ.. [                           ]

  1. [In the name of God, the merciful and compassionate. Praise be to God alone] and God bless our Lord Muḥammad, his prophet and his family, and his peace (be  upon them).  

  2. [ … ] ʿAbdallāh ibn Ṭāhir, the moneychanger  at the gate of al-Ḥukm in Fusṭāṭ, and Muḥammad ibn Ṭāhir, the carpet dealer,  [ … ]  

  3. [ … ] what is in the possession of ʿAbdallāh, one of the two, the portion amounting to a third and a quarter, that is fourteen shares out of [twenty-four shares [ … ] 

  4. [ … ] what is in the possession of the other one of the two, Muḥammad ibn Ṭāhir, the carpet dealer, is the remainder, that is  a quarter and a sixth, ten shares from twenty-four shares [ … ]  

  5. [ … ] a rectangular door, corridors, lower and upper floors, one of which has a square door outside the door of this house  [ … ]  

  6. [ … ] connected and with stables underneath it. This courtyard has a large square door, by which one enters [ … ]  

  7. [ … ] .. and the creeper on its right side. This is the ruin, to which one has access from this courtyard. One makes one's way to  the upper floor by.. [ … ]  

  8. [ …] to its end is one of the rights of this  house, a half of which and [ …]  was entailed by this sale [  … ]
