Description

Legal document in the hand of Yosef b. Shemuel b. Saʿadya ha-Levi. Fragment (lower right corner). Involving Abū l-Faraj who acknowledges receiving 10 dinars from "our lord Moshe (Maimonides)." Dating: ca. 1168–1204 CE, based on the years when Maimonides was active in Egypt. The case is related to a testimony about the death of Abū Zikrī, probably the brother of Abū l-Faraj. Signed by Shemuel b. Saʿadya ha-Levi (the father of the scribe). (Information in part from Catalogue of the Jack Mosseri Collection, p.189.)
