    Most of the document is full of the vocabulary of patronage, but there are some parts that could potentially lead to some interesting historical gleanings. 1) It seems that T-S NS 162.34 mentions that the writer of the document is referring to a nominee who could be appointed as a state official in Yemen. 2) The writer in T-S NS 70.10 seems to recount his own patronage and service to the state and probably self-endorses himself as the amir of Yemen. 3) l.2 of BL OR 5557K.10 mentions the dispatching of ambassadors (sufur) and hujaj (lit. emissaries). […] VII, and Sijillāt Mustanṣiriyya). 4) Towards the end of the document, the writer mentions an affair that cannot be revealed in written correspondence, perhaps hinting at a matter of confidence.

    IB I, 33. Letter in the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe (fl. 1100-1138 CE) containing a commercial account and a record of court proceedings. On his way to India, Abū Barakāt al-Labdī met Yiṣḥaq al-Nafūsī in Aden, who gave him some merchandise to sell for him. The lost part of the letter probably details how this merchandise was sold in India; the surviving part accounts for what Abū Barakāt bought for al-Nafūsī in India, as well as the expenses (taxes, rent for a warehouse, etc) during his stay in Aden.
