In the Kitāb al-Masālik wa-l-mamālik (2: 676), al-Bakrī mentions a bāb al-qallālīn in Qayrawān as well as the bāb ʿAbdallāh, which is one of the earliest Eastern gates of Qayrawān not far from the Great Mosque, near the bāb al-qallālīn.
