Cheat sheet:

  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

Should the partnership be terminated by either party before the end of the fixed period (which is not evident in the document, possibly due to deterioration), the terminating partner would be required to pay the other 50 dinars as an outright gift. If Abū al-Barakāt were to terminate the partnership prematurely, he would lose the entire amount putatively loaned to Abū al-Faraj, which was likely half his capital.

There are two columns in eastern Arabic numerals alongside detailed entries each beginning with a day of the week. Like many of the other list fragments in JRL SERIES C the left may possibly represent the coinage kuruş and the right "פצה" could indicate the smaller silver medin (the kuruş was minted as early as 1690 but did not reach wider circulation until 1703 CE).

Along the far left side of the recto Jerusalem is mentioned (l. 6r) and the coinage "metaqil / מתאקיל" which may indicate gold for prices connected to the items listed (given the mention of "וזן / weight" in the same entry: l. 16-17r). The same recordkeeping format continues onto the verso.
