[…] Goitein reads מא לי מאעיד בה עלא חֶלי (mā lī mā uʿayyid bihi ʿalā ḥalī) and translates "I have nothing beautiful with which to celebrate the feast” (MS IV:156). Menashshe (fl. 1100-1138 CE). Karīma, known as al-Wuḥsha al-Dallāla (l. 18), releases Sitt al-Ḥusn (l. 21) from any responsibility for a gift (l. 26) that she has granted her, and from any obligation resulting from previous connections between them. Karīma's son Abū Saʿd and her other heirs likewise release Sitt al-Ḥusn and her heirs. It is also stated that Karima, the grantor, is entitled to repossess the gift, and 1s allowed to sell it, in time of need, and therefore the term māḍiya (1. 26), complete, is intentionally omitted.

These two fragments are part of single document containing a partnership release and renewal. Amat al-Qādir, widow of Shela, and her son Yefet (possibly a minor), release ʿArūs b. Yosef from a partnership he had with Shela. Amat al-Qādir seems to be acting as trustee for her son, but also seems to have a financial interest in the partnership; since she would not have ordinarily inherited from her husband, her equity in the partnership may represent payment of her ketubba. […] This document was mistakenly identified as a join with T-S 10J5.2 (PGPID 26426) in Goitein, Med Soc III (viii,C,3, n. 24), and it was also treated as such in Lieberman, "A Partnership Culture," 122.

From this partnership there have survived orders of payments to Khiyār ranging from 1¼ to 100 dinars between 1138 and 1141. In four columns, all crossed out with a vertical stroke probably indicating that the accounts were settled or transferred to al-daftar al-kabīr, the ledger referred to in other accounts that are similarly crossed out. […] The account shows among other things how many payments — even in dirhams — were made by book transfer. It also shows that Abū Zikrī, despite his position in the community of merchants, refrained from making overdrafts. He also avoidedd letting his money sit and deposited payments immediately.

The writer thanks the addressee in the concluding lines quoting two verses of poetry that are commonly quoted to express gratitude - ولو أنني أوتيت كل بلاغة*وأفنيت بحر النطق في النظم والنثر لما كنت بعد القول إلا مقصرا*ومعترفا بالعجز عن واجب الشكر Towards the end of the document, there seems to be an ʿalāma in a thick pen which reads as جدد عهد, probably signifying the renewal of the tenure of someone, and the verses of poetry in gratitude are in response? On verso, there are two lines of love poetry by the 11th-century Andalūsī poet ʿAlīal-Ḥuṣarī al-Qayrawānī (d. 1095) headed by a basmala.

Abū Manṣūr Elʿazar b. Elʿazar al-Dimashqī gives the female slave Rahj (possibly meaning "Arsenic") as well as clothing and household goods which he had inherited from his wife Fakhr bt. Abū l-Surūr Ibn al-Jashshāsh as a gift to their two daughters, Ḥasab and Khafāʾ. He also gifts the daughters various other items typically found in trousseaus.
