Moshe sent 24 dirhams with the bearer. Mahfuz is to get 10 dirhams and Moshe's maternal grandfather is to get 1 dirham ("and may he pray for me"). […] With the remainder, he is to buy 10 sujrahs (? סגרה); mercury (זיבק); and green gallnuts (עפץ אכצר). He concludes by urging his family members to pray for him.

[…] In the introduction to her edition, Jane Hathaway notes that this is: "a straightforward letter of introduction from one Pervīz Agha, whose seal, on the document’s verso, appears to bear the date 1030, implying that the letter was composed in or shortly after 1621 CE. […] Perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this letter is its emphasis on hometown ties: Pervīz insists that Salmūn must help Manṣūr because they both come from Alexandria.

[…] Faraḥ al-Iskandarānī, wakīl al-tujjār, who not only sent letters to Nahray on his own behalf but also served as scribe on behalf of various other merchants who had dealings with Nahray. On many letters, there are indications that Ibrāhīm b. Faraḥ, as representative of the merchants, ran a sort of postal agency from Alexandria to Fustat and other Egyptian locations.
