Cheat sheet:

  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

Wahb for his ḍamān on dyeing in Madīnat al-Fayyūm. Date: Not preserved. Probably written before 20 Shaʿbān 405: the official with the ʿalāma "al-ḥamdu li-l-lāhi ʿalā niʿamih" signs this receipt, and in the sequence of the dated part of the corpus signs on behalf of the Dīwān al-ʿAmal up until through 26 Dhū l-Ḥijja 404 (T-S AS 176.304; PGPID 37295); then, starting from T-S Ar.35.176 (32548), dated 20 Shaʿbān 405, he signs on behalf of the Dīwān al-Ishrāf. Since he signs this receipt on behalf of the Dīwān al-ʿAmal, this document must have been written before 20 Shaʿbān 405.

Payment made under the supervision of two officials: (1) under the supervision of the auspicious, rightly guided qāḍī Thiqat al-Mulk Makīn al-Dawla wa-Amīnuhā, protégé of the Commander of the Faithful, Abū l-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Nahār; and (2) under the tax accounting of Abū l-Sarī Thiyudur b. Bamūn. The join is almost certain, but the join is not continuous. An argument in favor of it is that the versos of both fragments contain accounts bearing the same set of dates.
