[…] Goitein and Friedman suggest this is the Maldives, but Lambourn ("Twelfth-century Malabar through Geniza sources," in Sur les Chemins d'Onagre, 2018) says the Laccadives would be a more logical itinerary en route to Aden. 2. אשר כנפשי מר׳ ור׳ יפת המלמד תכון בארץ ושאננת מפחד רעה
3. אמרתי <אגלה> את אזנך את כל ההוה…
...Do not let him idle away his time with other boys. Accustom him to say
the blessings that he knows and tell his mother to wash his hands and to say the ha-Moci’ blessing and the blessing
over wine, water and washing, in which we have instructed him, in his own way.
