Cheat sheet:

  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

Sāʾib al-Qūṣanṭīnī (=of Constantine or Constantinople)). […] The sender wanted to travel but didn't have the money to rent passage on a boat or ship, so he borrowed 12 [...] from Yeshuʿa ʿIwāẓ b. Mentions the Nile port of Būlāq, specifically the loading docks (bi-isqelīt Būlāq)– although this usage may refer to the port itself. The entry also describes the transport of pilgrims (ען חמל מחזום לחגאג): probably Muslims leaving to or returning from Mecca via Būlāq, but much of the document is missing. A certain Ḥajj Aḥmad al-Qafānī is mentioned in line 2. MCD.
