Testimony confirming that a freedwoman named Mubāraka, originally from the lands of Rūm (Byzantium), who had converted to Judaism after being freed by Ibn al-Watīd, a former dyer, may marry any Jewish man she pleases. The welfare official (parnas) ʿEli ha-Kohen was apparently in doubt as to Mubāraka's suitability for marriage. With this document, he receives a guarantee from the mother of someone with the official government title Saʿd al-Mulk to vouch for Mubāraka should difficulties arise.
