[…] He then recounts the story of how Sulaymān and Fakhr stayed in the khān in Bilbays with six other pilgrims (al-Shaykh Muwaffaq the cantor, Saʿīd b. al-Kātib, Nāṣir b. Ṭayyib, Yehoshua b. al-Ghāriq, Mūsā b. Mardūk, and Ibn Abū Saʿd al-Khādim), and how they were stranded there over Shabbat when the caravan left.

Abū l-Khayr claims to have given to the female broker Sitt al-Dalāl bt. Abū ʿUmar two books belonging to his father, one of the Torah and one of Ketuvim, in order to offer them for sale. […] Six years later, he learned the Torah alone was worth 20 dinars. Abū l-Maḥāsin is questioned about this. The story continues at length on verso (mentioning at one point the two witnesses Abū l-Bayān Ibn al-Ahuv and Saʿīd al-Mawṣilī). This portion still needs examination.

Ignoring the order of the verses, most of them resemble the verses of Duʿā al-Jawshan (for Saturday) attributed to ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib or other verses of supplication attributed to him and quoted in the book Biḥār al-Anwār by Majlesi (d. 1698). Goitein suggests that this document was written before 1134, the year that Ṣedaqa al-Ramli, the grandfather of the bride, passed away (Med. […] (Translated to English in Goitein, 3:154. Med. Soc.). Alternate description: betrothal deed between R. Efrayim ha-Talmid b. Meshullam and Yeshuʿa b. Ṣedaqa ha-Levi al-Ramlī for his daughter Sitt al-Fakhr. The advanced gift is 15 dinars, the delayed gift 50 dinars (though 60 is written above the line).

Written on the surviving upper part of a leaf, this is a draft of a deed leasing a parcel of land belonging to the qodesh to Avraham ha-Levi (B. Yahya) al-Najib (al-Watiq). The parcel (saha) is in Dammuh, near the synagogue. […] The lessee is granted the right to build on the land and also to cultivate it and operate the saqiya on it.

The tenant will also have to carry 1000 palm branches to the Nile (apparently also in the month of Tishri, intended for the feast of Sukkot).

The shelfmark T-S Ar.18(1).123 unites three fragments, which all have Hebrew liturgical poems on one side and remainders of letters in Judaeo-Arabic on the other. All three letters appear to be in the same handwriting, and all the liturgical fragments are likewise in the handwriting of the same scribe (different than the scribe of the letters). […] The addressee's letter arrived, along with the 5 shipments it mentioned, 4 for "Sayyidnā Av (Bet Din)" and 1 for the sender.

Dated in one of the diagonal entries in the middle of the recto: Tammuz 5404 AM (1644 CE), but the exact day is illegible along a paper fold. The accounts are detailed and well-preserved enough that there may be an Islamic-calender year equivalent on the recto or verso (one of the entries gives the month Muḥarram). There are also few blocks of text in paragraph form. One entry on the recto mentions Cairo's Nile port of Būlāq.
