Letter from Khalaf b. Nāṣir to Barakāt b. al-Dayyān (probably Shelomo b. Eliyyahu). In Judaeo-Arabic. Requesting that he send quickly the pair of anklets (al-zawj al-khalākhil) that belong to Khalaf, the pair without the lawālib (springs? coils?). Barakāt is to give the anklets to the bearer of the letter, Sālim b. Ibrāhīm the brother of Ṣadaqa.

  1. May (this) come to Baraka't son of the judge, from the one grateful to him

  2. Khalaf b. Na's'ir.

  3. In your n(ame), Oh Mercif(ul).

  4. My letter to my lord and master who is dear to me, may God

  5. lengthen your life and perpetuate your honored position, support and benefaction. I

  6. ask you to send us the pair of anklets which belong to us

  7. which is registered

  8. with you, and which has no claimant. I adjure you by God

  9. (to give them) immediately upon reading these words

  10. to Sa'lim, the bearer of this letter, who is Sa'llm the son of

  11. Ibra'hi'm, the brother of S'adaqa, as well as the object which

  12. we se]nt with Baraka't; do not neglect it, by God,

  13. Oh God! Send the anklets quickly,

  14.     …… do not compel me to

  15. …..  ] …. our heart is troubled ......

  16. whenever no news of you arrive ...... peace be

  17. upon you and upon whoever is with you.

  18. And peace be upon your father.
