תיאור
Letter/petition of appeal for assistance written in a combination of Hebrew, Judaeo-Arabic, and Arabic. (The Arabic is notable for the use of an ihmāl sign underneath some of the حs.) Dating: unknown, probably 11th or 12th century. The sender mentions being approached by somebody about a business partnership involving 2 dinars and brass items worth more than 2 dinars, including a bucket and a lamp. He seems to be trying to use these as collateral in order to obtain a loan of 2 dinars from the addressee. Needs further examination for content. On recto there is a detailed curse in Judaeo-Arabic, Aramaic and Hebrew against whomever stole the dinar from Mashiaḥ b. Ṣemaḥ (the curse seems to be in the same hand as the letter, at least based on the ייי ligatures for God's name). (Information mainly from CUDL)
