תיאור
Recto (secondary use): Tax receipt issued to the khuzzān of the Fayyūm tax districts against revenue delivered by Abū l-Ḥasan b. Wahb. Dated: 10 Ṣafar 404. Amount of payment: one-quarter dīnār (Khan reads one-half and two). Written by the jahbadh Mīkhāʾīl b. ʿAbd al-Masīḥ. Measurements: 11.5 × 9.7 cm. The recto, which was written before the verso, contains part of a petition addressed to an official (see separate entry). NB: Due to the layout and varied line structure of Khan's edition, the PGP version of his translation combines ll. 1-6 in order for the formatting to match his transcription.

- A valid receipt has been granted to the warehouse-keeper in the province of al-Fayyūm on behalf of ʾAbū al-Ḥasan ibn Wahb the estate-manager
- for the year four-hundred and three, under the supervision of the auspicious, rightly guided judge, Ṯiqat al-Mulk Makīn al-Dawla wa-ʾAmīnuhā,
- the protégé of the commander of the faithful, ʾAbū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī ibn Bahār, with ʾAbū al-Sarī Theodor ibn Yuḥannis acting as a accountant.
- Half of this: One and a quarter. Its amount: Two and a half.
- Written by Mīḵāʾīl ibn ʿAbd al-Masīḥ, the cashier. Valid. The tenth of Ṣafar
- in the year four-hundred and four.
