תיאור

Mercantile letter in Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: 12th century. The section preserved here opens with asking for a favor from the addressee involving conciliating someone else. Goes on to mention the well known merchant Abū Saʿīd Ibn al-ʿAfṣī; 21 dinars; a request from somebody's (the addressee's?) son Abū l-Karam along with blessings for him; the arrival of Sālim b. Nissim al-ʿIblānī al-Mukārī (also mentioned in Bodl. MS heb. d 75/14 (PGPID 6491)); something (ʿūd/aromatic wood?) Yemeni, a zabdiyya, and nutmeg. On verso mentions the sale of 'the rest of the goods' and that selling them in Tyre is better than selling them in ʿAkka; the aromatic wood, the arrival of the gold, and Abū l-Karam again. In a postscript instructs the addressee to do something involving Abū Isḥāq Ibn Sunaynāt. At the bottom there are a few words in Arabic script, maybe part of the address.
