Cheat sheet:

  • If you're looking for a word with one missing letter, use a period. Two missing letters, use two periods or {2}. Increase the number in the curly brackets to increase the number of characters, or insert a range with a comma in between, ex. {0,5}.
  • If you don't know how many characters are missing, use .*.
  • If you know which characters you want, use square brackets to find multiple spellings, ex. [יו] for yud or vav.

He inquires briefly about commercial dealings before insisting that there is no need for his mother to trouble herself with coming to visit. If she wishes to give him the fabric, they can simply send it with Safi, and if she wishes to tell him in person about the illness of his sister, then she should simply write the news in a letter: “There is no shame in that; people are accustomed to writing the secrets of people in letters and sending them.”

Accounts in Judaeo-Arabic on a large bifolio with a few lines in Arabic. Dating is 18th- or 19th-century based on the Ottoman kurush reference in Arabic and perhaps post-1707 if the word "גנזרילי" on the verso was intended as a reference to the gold cinzirli (the spelling is somewhat unclear for this to be certain). Some of the accountentries mention names, such as: Abdaraḥman al-Maghribī and Raḥamīm Gershon.
