Description

Legal documents in the hand of Hillel b. ʿEli, from the court of Mevorakh b. Saʿadya. Recto: deed concerning the sale of a book that had been left with Nissim b. Aharon and his son Aharon as a deposit for a loan by ʿImrān b. Yosef al-Barqī (who is described as maʾūf al-ʿaql ‘damaged of intelligence’). The document also mentions Avraham b. Yefet ha-Levi, and is dated Thursday, 25 Adar 1408 Seleucid = 12 March 1097 CE. See also T-S 10J5.18 + T-S 6J2.28 (PGPID 3026). Verso: statement of Abū Yaʿqūb Yiṣḥaq b. Elʿazar, who clarifies details regarding the will of Abū Kathīr the doctor (such as the use of abbreviations ‘5’ for ‘500’) after visiting him in his house a day before his death.
