Description

Accounts in Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: post-1517 (Ottoman-era) based on the reference to Çavuşiya (שאושייא), on the verso–which was an Ottoman military title (possibly soldiers from the Çavuşan regiment). The paleography supports an estimate of 16th- or 17th-century. Of interest because many of the line items are the names of Egyptian towns: Gharbiyya, Bahnasa, Manṣūra, Fuwwa, Ṭunūb, Shawbak, and many more (perhaps Būlāq=בולק). Needs further examination.
