The writer was appointed as an overseer of the Sultan's ships. It is also an extraordinary document of estrangement between father and son. The son loved music, Italian wine and bad company, and, of course, was always in debt. All attempts of the father to correct him: presenting him to the qadi of Alexandria, taking him on a trip to Ifrīqiya, sending him to the countryside on administrative work, suggesting to him travels to Yemen and to Syria were of no avail. The young man of twenty-two was not a mere good-for-nothing. He was allergic to his father: 'as long as you are alive, I have bad luck.

[…] On verso, apart from the note that the wife received the get in front of witnesses, there is a list of three men somehow related to the case: Abū l-Riḍā b. al-Nagid; [...]r b. al-Sukkarī; and Abū l-Majd b. al-ʿAwād. This part is also signed by ʿOvadya b. Yehuda ha-Dayyan and one other person.

The letter on recto appears to be from a father (al-wālidī) to a son (al-walad al-ʿazīz al-muwaffaq al-saʿīd). […] The letter on verso mentions names such as al-Shaykh al-Thiqa Abū l-Bishr and Mūsā. There is one phrase in Hebrew script, the title of the book הלכות מאכלות אסורות ('the laws of forbidden foods'), which the addressee is asked to have copied for the writer. […] The remnant of the address reads, "the children of the Jews (awlād al-yahūd), Fustat."

Letter fragment addressed to Ḥusayn al-Ṣabbagh al-Ḍāmin in formal style and in curious script of large characters, asking the recipient to pay 1/6 dinars for the hire of a boat, for which the writer had pawned his clothing with the captain al-Rayyis al-Ḥayfī. […] It seems he ate something that gave him a bad case of gas ("wa-alqaʾatal-riyāh fī jawfī"), and he has not eaten anything since. Mentions Amīr al-Juyūsh and Saniyy al-Dawla. […] This letter contains the only known mention in the Geniza of flax shipped to the Indian Ocean world and of sorghum being shipped west from India. Al-Tīz, the main medieval port of Makrān, is also mentioned in IB I, 14 (PGPID 5358).

Fatimid official report mentioning two messengers sent from the caliph (al-ḥaḍra al-ṭāhira) to Damascus and also mentioning the Banū Hilāl. Probable join with ENA 3907.6 identified by Alan Elbaum. The verso was reused for a distinctive Hebrew monumental inscription with a red/black border decoration. It is very similar to T-S 12.459 + T-S G1.55 + T-S G2.150 + Halper 164 (PGPID 7230) (might even be a join, though the text on recto does not match). It also resembles T-S AS 182.60 (PGPID 35892). Petition to a higher official from a military general or army veteran based on "ṣibyān al-khāṣṣ". The petitioner says he comes from the class of military generals known for their bravery, zeal in service, and horsemanship. He asks for a horse: "aḥḍur taḥtahu faras mulkihi wa-huwa ḍaʿīf nāqiṣ al-ḥāl," "yaḥmiluhu ʿalā faras," with the taqbīl formula "wa-huwa yujaddid taqbīl al-arḍ wa-yasʾal al-inʿām" - "the slave renews the kissing of the ground" (a variant of this formula also appears in T-S Ar. 39.487).

Order of payment issued by the state monopoly administration for silk production/weaving. Location: Alexandria. Dated: 10 Jumada II 1237 AH (1822 CE). ʿAlīal-Kulī receives payment of 33 gurūsh and 13 pāra (medin) for weaving silk– his name also appears in the Judaeo-Arabic filing note on the verso. The official rendering payment is Mūsā Naʿīm al-Yahūdī under the authority of the state overseer (nāẓir) ʿUmr Agha, who signed and sealed the document.
