Legal fragment. In the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe ha-Levi? Outline of a deed of sale for an enslaved woman named Ibtidāʾ. Seller: Sitt al-Banīn bt. [...] the wife of [...]. Buyer: Sālim b. [...]. Enslaved person: Ibtidāʾ. The price is too faded to read. A manumitted women by the name of Ibtidāʾ is listed in Appendix II of Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt. The latter individual is mentioned in a document c. 1154 CE (PGPID 6313).
