Description / Bio

Manumitted woman who married the trader (tājir) Abū l-Murajjā S[ā]lim b. Natan he-Ḥaver, with whom she had a daughter, Fakhr (a free girl). Ibtidāʾ and her husband later divorced some time before November 1154 CE. (Information from PGP and Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 2, no. 9)
