Yaʿaqov Ibn Abī Zimra
Description / Bio
Scribe who served within the Rabbanite community of Cairo during the mid-seventeenth century. Given the rarity of his surname, Yaʿaqov was possibly a descendant of the sixteenth-century communal leader David b. Shelomo Ibn Abi Zimra, a Sephardi refugee from Spain who spent much of his rabbinic career in Cairo before he died in Safed in 1573 CE.
