Description / Bio

Manumitted man who is mentioned in a power of attorney document from the late eleventh or early twelfth century. Mukhtār had previously been enslaved by the gaon Evyatar ha-Kohen. (Information from PGP and Craig Perry, Slavery and the Jews of Medieval Egypt, Appendix 2, no. 20)
