Description / Bio

Father-in-law of Moshe Maimonides. The name "al-Shaykh al-Thiqa" on its own is ambiguous. In the context of documents from the second half of the 12th century, it can refer either to Mishaʾel b. Yeshaʿyahu he-Ḥasid or to Yehuda b. Elʿazar ha-Kohen, a government secretary (kātib) in Minyat Zifta.
