Abu Saʿĩd b. Maḥfūẓ Ibn Jamāhir (12th c)

Description / Bio

Nākhudā who traveled to India. On one occasion, he purchased an enslaved woman, impregnated her and then sold her to someone who went to Berbera, or left her there while himself passing through there. This incident involving the unnamed woman and her child was controversial. An enslaved man (ghulām) named Ṣafī complained about Ibn Jamāhir's behavior, and Ibn Jamāhir retaliated by having Ṣāfī brought before the governor in ʿAydhāb and beaten.
