Description / Bio

Son of the Muslim ship-owner and nākhudā Abū l-Ḥasan Ibn Abī l-Katāʾib. He primarily traveled in his father's ship. He later died in a shipwreck of the Sultan's 'Jurbattanī ship' while acting as courier between Khalaf b. Yiṣḥāq and Ibn Yijū (see Goitein & Friedman, India Book p149 and III, 15 ln 18-25).
