The addressee is asked to do something with the 8 nuqra dirhams and mentions the physician (al-ḥakīm) Abū l-Faḍl b. Khalfa(?) and Abū ʿAlī.

    Written on behalf of Hiba Ibn Zaʿfarān (the word before "saffron" isn't entirely clear, it could also be that he used have a trade related to saffron), a newly indigent inhabitant of Fusṭāṭ. Hiba needs assistance paying the capitation tax, and has already been arrested and beaten for not paying it. Mentions six elders and the cantor Faḍāʾil. (Information in part from CUDL)

    F. 1r begins, after a בשמ׳ רחמ׳, ‘A synopsis of some verses of (the poem) את ערובת by Yeḥezqel ha-Kohen “filled with light” (i.e., blind) al-Danūrī b. ʿAlī, in the hand of Efrayim b. ʿAzarya, known as Ibn Faḍlān (?)’. Also mentions Futūḥ who will help with these transfers. […] The first Hebrew page is almost too faded to read; mentions "our love" and "the secret of knowledge" and "the Torah is one, do not add or subtract."
