Legal document in the hand of Natan b. Shemuel. Location: Fustat. Dated: Tammuz 1456 Seleucid = June/July 1145 CE, under the authority of the Nagid Shemuel b. Ḥananya. The goldsmith (al-ṣāʾigh) Yosef b. Yehuda al-Shomer acknowledges a debt of 30 wariq dirhams owed to the parnas Abū ʿAlī Yefet b. Shemarya. He has to pay back every week 1.5 dirhams (corrected from 2.5), beginning with 1 Av. Only payments listed on back of document are regarded as having been made—but the back is blank. Witnesses: Saʿadya b. Mevorakh; Shelomo b. Nājī ha-Parnas. The validation (qiyyum) is signed by David ha-Paliṭ ("the refugee") b. Yosef and Ḥiyya b. Yiṣḥaq.
