תיאור

Probably a business letter in Judaeo-Arabic. Late. Mentions transactions, numbers, and people such as Avraham and Shemuʾel. The currency is repeatedly referred to as "אשפרי", likely the Ottoman akçe (aka asper, aspros). However, line 10 might refer to gold fındıklı coinage, which would help to date this fragment as post-1725, but the spelling is unclear (?פנדוק.לי). It is uncommon for akçe and fındıklı to be referenced in the same geniza fragments. By the 1700s the akçe served more so as a unit of account rather than physical coinage. Requires further examination.
