Recto: Letter fragment in Judaeo-Arabic. Dealing with pepper, clove, and lac. Instructing the addressee to sell goods in Fustat. Possibly in the handwriting of Avraham ibn Yiju. (Identified by Amir Ashur.) Verso contains part of the address of a letter from somebody's mother (מן ואלדתה . . . צאנה אללה) written in a different hand. The addressee's name may end with דוד or רור; the latter could be compatible with Avraham b. Surūr (Ibn Yiju) or one of his brothers. If Avraham himself, he might have received a letter from his mother and used the blank space for his own letter. If one of his brothers, he might have been acting as scribe for his mother. It is also possible that the address on verso is not directly related to the letter on recto.
