  2. And they raised him up and they hung him on the stem
  3. of the cabbage (?), which is sprouting (?). But before
  4. they raised him to the cross [he k]new what
  5. is written in the Torah, “Do not let his corp[se remain overni]ght
  6. on the tree.” And at that mom[ent] he sent
  7. and called the people whom he had misled, and said
  8. to them: “If you come tomorrow you will not find me,
  9. nor my body, on the cross—you will surely know
  10. that I ascended to the firmament of Heaven,
  11. and you will not see me.” They crucified him alive,
  12. and stoned him with stones, and he died
  13. [on] the tree. And [they did not want] to take him down

  1. ben Peraḥiah: “Because of Yeshu [the wi]cked
  2. we shall change the law of the Torah, in which it says,
  3. ‘Do not let his cor[pse r]emain overnight on the tree’?” They brought him down 
  4. and buried [him in] the water-chan[nel] of Rabbi
  5. Yehoshuʿa (!) the g[ardener]. On the next day the people
  6. who were misled came, and did not find him on the tree.
  7. They hurried and caught the Jews, and said
  8. to them: “Yeshu our master told us the truth,
  9. that the Jews are dealing with a lie; if
  10. you hung him on the tree—
  11. where is his body? In truth, he ascended to Heaven.”
  12. They went [and told? Pila]tus the governor.
