מסמך משפטי p. Heid. Arab. 2תיאור
Deed of a gift of a house in the Darb al-Silsila, Mamṣūṣa quarter, Fustat, in Arabic. A Jewish physician gives a house newly erected by himself to his son, Faraj Allāh. The deed contains a detailed description of the house as well as of the physical attributes of the son. The house bordered on the house of a mason, a ruin belonging to a Muslim pious foundation, a cattle pen belonging to a qadi, and on the house of Ibn al-ʿAjamī. It had two doorways on the same street, one opening, as usual, into a corridor, and the other directly into the inner court, or qāʿa. Much of the first ten lines on the first page and of the corresponding lines on the reverse side are lost. The lower left corner was cut away before the paper was used; thus, the last five lines are shorter than the others but they are complete. The names of the donator and the recipient are written on the reverse side in Hebrew. (Information from Goitein’s notes and from Med. Soc., IV, 18, 60) EMS NB: the document is also known as Heidelberg Scott-Reinhardt 1451 and PSR 1451. Goitein states that the document originated from the Schott-Reinhardt papyrus collection in Heidelberg and refers to it as PSR 1451 throughout Mediterranean Society.
