Legal record (#84) in a court register/pinqas from a Karaite beit din in Cairo (on f. 29r of Yevr.-Arab. I 328). Dated 6 Tishrei 5325 AM (1565 CE). The year recorded by the scribe is surprising given that the previous entry on the same page is from Elul 5325, the final month of the calendar, which leads to the expectation of an entry a few weeks later in Tishrei 5326 AM rather than a chronological leap backwards of one entire year (though the next entry on the verso is indeed circa 5325). This is shift in time represents another example of the court scribe completing register entries in a non-sequential manner. In this brief court register entry, ʿAbd al-Maʿaṭī b. Khiḍr al-Fūlādī testifies that for the rest of his life he will not seek to remarry his ex-wife, Sarah bt. Hārūn al-Qudsī. The couple divorced earlier that same day: 6 Tishrei. The record contains a clause that "he did not divorce her in [the courts] of the Jews or the Muslims," which in this context probably implies [Rabbanite] Jews– given that ʿAbd al-Maʿaṭī is testifying before a Karaite court.
