Document 1
- Admission of this was made before me. It was written by
- Ḥasan ibn ʾIbrāhīm ibn Rizq in his (own) handwriting.
- In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
- This is what Marqūrah and Buṭrus, the sons of Rabābīl ibn Mīnā, have bought from Baqām ibn Kayl and they are all (numbered)
- among the inhabitants of Ṭuṭūn, one of the villages in the district of Fayyūm. They bought from him the room and the portico which is on the second floor
- and that is the portico which is over the bashṭām and the room that is north of this portico which is
- the room that is over the western storage room of this large house known as the [house] of Qūrīl ibn Kayl
- to its limits and boundaries. Its first boundary and that is the southern extends to the door to the first staircase.
- Its second boundary and that is the northern one extends to the thoroughfare. The third boundary
- that is the western one extends to the alley. Its fourth boundary that is the eastern one extends to the living room known as
- the living room of ʾAbū Thaydar to which the door (of the room) gives access. The entrance and exit are through this (living room and not the staircase). The room does not have access to the staircase from the first floor.
- Marqūrah and his brother Buṭrus the sons of Rabābīl ibn Mīnā bought this portico and the room as well as the
- the rooftop that is to the north of the large rooftop for (a sum of) money which amounts in Muʿizzī coins of full weight to thirteen dīnārs
- of gold coins of full weight which are used as currency in Egypt and its administrative districts. Baqām ibn Kayl ibn Qūrīl received
- this price completely and in full and he released himself from the (ownership) of the property (by means of a receipt acknowledging) that he has received and taken over (the price) fully and he has handed over to Marqūrah and his brother
- Buṭrus, this aforementioned property. They received it and acquired it and owned it and passed into their holding
- In his property and possession. If they wish they may sell and if they wish they may give it away as gift and if they wish they may dwell in it. There is no claim for Baqām ibn Kayl
- Bin Qūrīl over this property after this conveyance little nor big, nor is there any or any cause for an action or claim. Whatever arises by way of an attachment
- or if someone should suddenly appear with a debt or make a claim on the basis of any inheritance, its clearing is incumbent upon Baqām ibn Kayl from his own
- money whatever it may amount to. This [sale] is according to the condition of sale of Islam and its contract, [performed while] being in sound mind and body, and legally capable
- of conducting their affairs, acting voluntarily, not forced or coerced while being pleased with it. And this was written in Muḥarram of the year four hundred and fifty-four.
