תיאור

Arabic legal deed concerning a property – a house which includes a stable - outside the walls of Cairo, outside Bāb Zuwayla and Bāb al-Kharq. The original sale is from August 1450. The seller is Samʿān b. ʿĪsā b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Naṣrānī, the purchaser is a merchant named Shihāb al-Dīn Aḥmad b. Yalbughā. The property borders on the properties of a Muslim Ḥājj, an amīr named Īnāl, and an Armenian Christian named Aidarūs. On verso, documentation of the sale of the property from the said Shihāb al-Dīn Aḥmad to a woman named Qizil, the wife of an amīr, on February 1452. Later, the three sons of the said woman are documented selling the property to Arākʾel b. Abī Saʿīd, an Armenian Christian, on November 1474. The document was in the possesion of the Qaraite community of Cairo in the Dār Simḥa synagogue in Ḥārat Zuwayla and was documented there by D. S. Richards in 1969, who later published the description of all the documents he found there in his 1972 article (as document no. VII). Today the document is at the National Library of Israel.
