תיאור

Verso: Legal document written and signed by Natan b. Shelomo ha-Kohen. Dated: end of Kislev 1441 Seleucid = December 1129 CE (the date appears both in the document itself and in the letters surrounding Natan's signature). In which Abū l-Faraj "the physician of the fleet" (ṭabīb al-uṣṭūl) sues his debtor Abū l-Ḥassan b. Muʿammar Ibn al-Baṭṭ for 22 dinars and 70 dirhams, documented in an Arabic debt contract. They ultimately agree on a repayment schedule whereby Abū l-Faraj will pay 1/4 dinar every month beginning with the following month (Ṭevet 1441). The document is crossed out with three diagonal lines. (Information in part from Mediterranean Society, I, p. 252, and from Goitein's index card.)
