On the 5th of the week, 14 days in the month of Adar II, year 3 of the sabbatical cycle, an interculated year, which is year 4,693 [A.]
M. , in Damascus, Hillel ha-Levi b. R. Aaron, who is from Tiberias, gave the ring of security for Tāmma, the virgin, daughter of Isaac b. [...]
according to the custom of the small synagogue. They fixed the mohar between them at thirty gold pieces: twenty-five, the custom of the congregation and f[ive,]
an addition. He advanced at the time of this security seven gold pieces, and he shall pay to her three when he marries her. May he be built by her.
And twenty will be written "on his neck" as delayed. Moses b. Nissi, [Tāmma'js representative-guardian received for her the ring of security.
She is in his jurisdiction, and he shall provide for her needs until the time of her marriage to him (i.e., to Hillel). This girl owns one of [two]
portions, in a compound known as the compound of Abū Yūsuf, in the building (qaṣr) in the street of the Jewish bathhouse, namely the middle level apartments,
from what she inherited from her father. Their boundaries are: to the south, the apartments of Muʾmin and the apartments of the sons of Jeremiah; to the east, it is adjacent to the w[all of]
the city; to the north, the apartments of Ibn Mus(a); and to the west, the exedra of the large courtyard, known as al-qaṣr. This por[tion,]
(one) of two portions, is with all its boundaries and exits and entrances, with all its rights, exposed and concealed, coming and going, between them....
Valid is this writ of betrothal in the laws (courts) of Israel. May they build and prosper. Bishr b. Ismaʿīl b. Ḥātim
testified to this and to all that is in this writ.
Moses b. Jacob testified. ʿAbbās b. Saʿīd. Samuel b. Menaḥem.
Jacob ha-Kohen b. Judah b. Barukh. Simḥa b. R. Solomon, whose soul is at rest, testified.
