מכתב AIU VII.E.131תיאור
Mercantile letter in Judaeo-Arabic. Relates to the India Book. Possibly written in Yemen. The sender's name looks like Abū Naṣr and the addressee's name looks like [...] b. ..צל (Ḥanẓal?). It was previously read as Ibn ʿAwkal but this seems less likely. Mentions people such as Ḥayyān, the nākhudā ʿAlī (whose name is preceded by the mysterious phrase דאוה פאיך), and Yaʿqūb b. Thābit, who was present and sends his greetings. Recto deals mainly with the issue of the potential sale of a female slave. Verso discusses wax; beads; vessels (qārūra); and musk and musk pods (nawāfij). The sender has sent the qārūras of musk and musk pods with Yaʿqūb al-Bā[...] to the addressee, who is to give them to Yaʿqūb and Ibrāhīm, who should bring it with them to Aden.
