Upper part of a Qaraite legal document. Dated: Tuesday, 23 Tishrei 5408 AM = 22 October 1647 CE (not 1787 CE as stated in Ktiv). Two orphans—Aharon Rofeʾ and his brother Zekharya Rofeʾ, the sons of the late Elʿazar Rofeʾ Ḥazzan—reach an agreement concerning the equal division of an inheritance of a shop (dukkān) and half of a loggia (al-nuṣf maqʿad) in the market of the goldsmiths (Sūq al-Ṣāgha), which are valued at 4,000 medins. The locations and boundaries of each property are then described. The shop is currently held in the waqf of a certain Ḥasan Effendi.
