Beginning of an informal letter in Judaeo-Arabic. It reads, "They sent (or: send) the little paper for al-Shaykh al-Asʿad al-Levi the cantor, the son of R. Shelomo. If he comes to you, show him this paper. . . ." The issue may have to do with the call to prayer for the afternoon prayer (אדאן אלעצר), but it's not clear if this would be the Muslim ʿaṣr or Jewish Minḥa, and if the latter, what adhān would refer to. On verso there is a memorial list for two families. AA/ASE
