תיאור
Lower part of a legal document in Arabic script. Dated 5 Jumādā I 556 AH = 2 May 1161 CE. Mentions Aḥmad the agent (al-wakīl); possibly the name al-Ḥusayn; the wages (ujra) of a group of people including shepherds (ruʿā), possibly guards (ḥārisīn), and possibly two terms for milkers of livestock (ḥālibīn and ʿajjālīn, which might be equivalent to the term muʿajjil appearing in dictionaries). There is also a phrase that repeats in both l. 3 and l. 5 that may mention bellows (? manāfikh) and salt (milḥ). A sum of 20 dinars is mentioned which one of the parties will hand over for it to be delivered to ʿAbbād(?) his brother for these wages. At the end of l. 5 the term ḍamān appears, potentially referring to a tax farm involving the trades mentioned above. Needs further examination. Reused on verso for an unidentified text in Arabic script in a different hand.
