Legal document: marriage contract. Manṣūr b. ... remarried his wife Nājiya (she previously separated from her him by agreed repudiation [ḥulʿ]), for a dowry of 316.333 dirhams. The early payment was forfeited. The husband would have to pay the deferred portion in annual installments of 13 dirhams. Nājiya, who probably no longer had any close relatives to assume guardianship, had to ask a third party to contract her marriage in her place. The matrimonial guardian, identified in the right-hand margin as ʿAbd Allāh b. Yūsuf b. Ḥammūd, came from a prominent family of jurists. Given the guardian's title, he is likely a qadi from Cairo. Both the paleography and the coinage and epithets used allow us to date the document to the Mamluk period. See: Tillier and Vantheighem, #80
