מכתב Bodl. MS heb. c 50/18

תיאור

A hybrid letter/account beginning, "My master, may God extend your life, you asked me for a 'noble' account (ḥisāb karīm) but I could not find it." The sender inspected the ruqʿa of Abū l-Surūr in which he said he was "coming down" and that the account of Ibn al-Ghazzāl had gone missing and requested that the sender draw it up again. He explains various other business circumstances and then recreates the accounts requested (wa-hādhihi sharḥ ḥisābihi. . .). On verso, he complains in hyperbolic terms, "if I had 10 Jewish workers (? muʿāmilīn) like these, they would have 'broken me' (kasarūnī), and even if I had 10,000 dinars, may God seek each person according to his actions." He asks the addressee to take this (letter/account?) to his house and keep it there for him. Merits further examination.
