Description

Letter from Shelomo b. Yehuda or from Avraham, the son of Shelomo b. Yehuda Gaon (Gil identifies the hand differently for different fragments of the join). Dating: 1025. Announces the deaths of the former geʾonim, Yoshiyyahu and Shelomo’s immediate predecessor, Shelomo ha-Kohen, who died "six days before Rosh ha-Shana" (in 1025 CE). Cites the Babylonian Talmud and the Palestinian Talmud (or perhaps the midrash) to argue that one should say a blessing even in adversity. Join: Oded Zinger. NB Moss. II,141.1 = Gil doc. 114 (cited as Moss. II,141a); Moss. II,141.5 = Gil doc. 56 (where he cites the shelfmark incorrectly).
