Description

Recto: copy of a Hebrew letter of holiday wishes addressed to (the community of) al-Maḥalla for the month of Tishrei. In the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe. Written in "very difficult and highfaluting Hebrew," as Goitein notes on his index card. Entitled (in Judaeo-Arabic) נסכה כתאב אלהנא אלדי כתבתה ללמחלה פי שהר אלמועדים. The extant text consists of extensive oratory only, partially vocalized with Babylonian (and a few Tiberian) vowels. Verso: only traces of Hebrew text. (Information mainly from CUDL.)
