Description
Damaged letter in Hebrew and Judaeo-Arabic. Addressed 'to our Nagid' (Gotein suggests Mevorakh b. Saʿadya) according to the internal address, but "from Fustat to the land of Edom (i.e. the Byzantine empire)" according to the address on verso. Opens with blessings against misfortunes including captivity or famine. Goitein suggests that this is an allusion to Crusader persecutions there. (Information in part from Goitein's index cards)
