Description
Fragment of official correspondence concerning the administration of Upper Egypt. The first four lines are mostly preserved. "It is necessary to write a noble letter (kitāb karīm) to the administrator (mutawallī) of the [...] in Qūṣ in which it is conveyed that the area known as Abnūd neighboring the iqṭāʿ of [. . .] al-Murtaḍā al-Saʿīd Ṣifwat al-Khilāfa. . . ." Reused on verso for Hebrew text in rudimentary hand, and possibly an archival note.

- There is a need for a noble decree to be written to the official in charge of the kha[rāj] in Qūṣ,
- informing him that the district known as Ibnūd, currently held as an iqṭāʿ,
- belongs to the two [most em]inent and exalted appointees—the noble, the felicitous, the chosen of the caliphal court
