Description
Recto: Letter fragment, probably in the hand of the judge Meʾir b. Hillel b. Ṣadoq, addressed to Moshe Maimonides. In Judaeo-Arabic. Reporting on the arrival of Abū l-Mufaḍḍal (the sender evidently dislikes him because he adds the kunya Abū ʿAvera, which is probably not a true name but an insult meaning "father of sin"). Abū l-Mufaḍḍal brought a letter for Abū l-Fakhr al-Ṣayrafī b. Saʿīd concerning the capitation tax (jizya) payment of someone's deceased father. The sender then administered an oath about this. All the remaining details are missing. (Information mainly from Friedman's edition.)
